Traditions of the Mardi Gras Indians

I am constantly working to research and document cultural traditions of our region, including the Canary Islanders, early settlers who are found in San Antonio and St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana, and the Native cultures of the lower Mississippi valley and Gulf Coast. I use the visual images with traditional recordings for presentations and to create educational resources for the Houston Institute for Culture Internet site. I am beginning a series of photographs of New Orleans' Mardi Gras Indians to use in conjunction with recordings I have utilized for educational radio programs on KTRU.

Photo coming soon.
