HOUSTON PEOPLE
   LACY ON CURRENT PROJECTS:

The Watchtower

On the South Rim of the Grand Canyon are some very unusual structures, ranging from prehistoric ruins of the Anasazi, to the unique creations of Mary Coulter, an architect who worked here a century ago, when the West was thought to be all about cowboys and rail barons. It's not only interesting to me to learn about the professional work of a woman in this historical period, but to consider the implications of these tourist attractions on the history of the western United States and on the nature of business today.
