Koy of kayumanggi on KTRU
We will talk with Koy Severino of the pinoy rock band, kayumanggi, on the KTRU World Music Show about his newly released CD, "sabi nila." Koy will share some Filipino music with us and several members of the band will perform live.

We will ask the kayumanggi band leader about his upcoming tour and discuss independent Filipino filmmakers and the state of the music industry.

You Can't Do That on Television: Video Selections from the New York Underground Film Festival
Programmed by Ed Halter
The generations raised on channel-flipping, cable-accessing, music-videoing, camcorder-taping, world-wide-webbing, and computer-gaming have created stuff that destroys the boundaries between video art and home-made entertainment, rife with interlocking obsessions: that new psychedelia that erupts when A.D.D. is your L.S.D.; an intricate fascination with mortality, sex and violence; jerry-rigged ways to access our cultural databank of media artifacts; a knowing capitulation to technology's inherent cruelties; and a continuation of the 70s video art in ways those pioneers couldn't have envisioned.
Now in its 12th season, the NYUFF showcases the best from the outer reaches of independent film each March at Anthology Film Archives. This all-video selection is curated by longtime organizer Ed Halter.

MadCat Women's International Film Festival
Presented by Ariella Ben-Dov

Passions and obsessions are revealed through documentary, animation and experimental short films and videos. Bingo Ladies (Tami Wilson, Canada), a documentary about women who spend their last dime for a game of bingo! Kate's Sole Excess (Carolyn Kaylor, US) reveals a young woman's infatuation with shoes. Murmur (Kate Matthews, Australia) is a simple and heart-wrenching animation that depicts a man who has a problem with his ticker. Under the fluorescent lights and piped-in "muzak" of a grocery store, the "Food Education Demo Specialists" struggle to keep their perky attitudes intact in The F.E.D.S (Jennifer Drummond, US). Also, the 'anti-animation' Drum Solo (Liliana Porter, US) depicts an existential tragicomedy of human affairs.
