Pamela Croft, a member of the Kooma clan of South West Queensland, Australia, will exhibit her paintings and conceptual art for the first time in the United States.
Dr. Croft1s work investigates issues and events based on her personal displacement history, and those of thousands of mixed heritage children who were separated from their Aboriginal families and placed in foster homes or orphanages as part of the Australian government's "assimilation" program which began in the 1930s and continued until the 1960s.
Dr. Croft, who holds a Doctorate of Visual Art from the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, has exhibited in solo, group and collaborative art shows throughout Australia, as well as in Europe and the Philippines. In 1995, she was sponsored by the Australian government as an artist-in-residence in Paris, then in 1998, was again sponsored as artist-in-residence in Manila. Her works hang in the National Museum of Australia, Museum of Amsterdam, Café Oz in Paris, Griffith Artworks Griffith University Nathan Campus, Brisbane, and numerous regional museums and private collections around the world.
