Greetings to everyone,

You can't trust a Pennsylvania groundhog to forecast Texas weather. Grumpy the Prairie Dog will tell you that.

Punxsutawney Phil is only right 39 percent of the time in his own home state. The impatient groundhog was wrong again this year and we are still suffering from winter. Grumpy, on the other hand, ponders the situation carefully while chewing a tasty blade of grass and makes a slow, deliberate calculation. This year, as he observed the steady migration of shiny cars on the highway rolling west toward the California sun, he predicted a long winter and hid in his cozy burrough. But first, he gave a few travelers and wandering bison a piece of his mind with his ferocious barks and menacing leaps.

See a picture of Grumpy the Prairie Dog making his prediction:

The prolonged winter we faced this past weekend caused us to postpone our field trip to the Forbidden Gardens and kept us from seeing many of the FotoFest exhibits that recently opened.

The field trip to Forbidden Gardens on the Katy Prairie has been rescheduled for Saturday morning, April 6. Everyone is welcome.

March is Women's History Month. We will honor several culturally diverse women who have played an important role in history and culture.

With nearly 500 visitors a day, Maria Tallchief is possibly the most popular artist featured on our website:

Additional features in the March newsletter will include:

Viva Veracruz - a travelogue of a recent trip to the states of Veracruz, Puebla and Hidalgo for those who may wish to visit this historically significant region of Mexico.

Virtual Classroom - what you will need to do to participate in this on-line, self-paced educational opportunity.

April Travel Edition - a preview of several rewarding, relatively low-cost summer travel opportunities.

David Dove, Model Citizen - be like David Dove and help us promote the great work you are doing as artists and organizations.

Until next time, thanks to everyone and take care.
