Houston Institute for Culture 2000

Drastic Environmental ChangesThe Twentieth Century has brought tremendous changes in culture and technology. The sign on the right indicates the impact of modern changes on different cultures; it warns of hazardous waste at a New Mexico site in Navajo, English and Spanish. The material in this section will address a wide variety of issues including trends in media and communications, as well as events to explore and understand. This section will be an important focus of the Houston Institute for Culture as we reflect on the Twentieth Century.

Here are some of the topics you will see shortly: Twentieth Century, Texas Tragedies, School Violence, Modern Music, Village in Action, The Hidden Mural, and The Moving Wall (a photo essay on the Vietnam Memorial as it visited Houston).
