Traditional and International Music Programs on KTRU, Rice University Radio

To help the Rice Radio meet its community service requirements, Mark Lacy broadcast a Saturday Community Affairs program that featured events such as Chinese New Year, Cinco de Mayo, Diwali, and Juneteenth.

The program evolved to feature regional and historical artists, including Huddie Ledbetter, Woody Guthrie, Bob Wills and Narciso Martinez. KTRU DJs interviewed Houston legends Leon "Pappy" Selph and Lydia Mendoza.

Station manager Andy Campbell and host Mark Lacy continued to promote diverse programming at KTRU and support community events with the World Music Show, which featured traditional music of indigenous people and cultural celebrations in Houston and around the globe.
