Organization Jack Yates House

Description Built in 1870 by Rev John Henry "Jack" Yates (1828-1897), this house was formerly located in the Fourth Ward of Houston. A former slave himself, Rev. Yates was widely respected for his ability to motivate freed slaves to buy land, build homes, vote, and educate others.
