HOUSTON CULTURAL AND COMMUNITY RESOURCE DIRECTORY

We are building a resource directory of Houston cultural and community organizations. Please complete and return this information to listings@houstonculture.org, and forward this web address to any artists and organizations you are aware of. In the information you return to us, which will be posted on line for potential volunteers, event organizers, patrons, etc., try to include general information which will not become outdated quickly.

Visit www.houstonculture.org/listings/sample.html to see an example of our own organization listed in this format. As listings are submitted, they will be indexed on this page: www.houstonculture.org/listings

INSTRUCTIONS

1) Name of the Organization
This can be an incorporated or unincorporated non-profit organization, or an individual artist who works in the community and/or offers classes.

2) Category
Please determine a category for your organization that is appropriate. Your category will appear on your individual page. As organizations are listed in the index, we will assign broad categories. For example, "Classical Indian Dance" and "Regional Folkdances of India" will likely be found in the index under "Indian Performing Arts" or "Performing Arts of India."

3) Description, Mission or Purpose
Please give a short description (75 words maximum) that will help potential volunteers, class members, audience members or event organizers know what you do.

4) Events and Traditions (optional)
If you have events or traditional celebrations that take place routinely (example: annually) mention the event and time of year, or mention the best way for those interested to get details. You may mention meetings for volunteers if they take place at a routine time and place.

5) Classes and Workshops (optional)
You may mention classes or individual instruction. You may want to use general terminology like "Registration ongoing" or "Offered quarterly." Please do not list prices, unless it is free. You may give us a URL to link to more specific information with schedule and prices.

6) Additional Information (optional)
If you have something to include other that the organization description, traditional events or classes, please mention it here. In the example, I included a motto. You may include specifics, such as "Founded in 1977," but you should avoid saying "Serving the community for ten years."

7) Web Address (optional)

8) Contact Name (*optional)

9) Phone Number (*optional)

10) Email (*optional)

11) Address (*optional)

*There needs to be at least one way to contact the organization.
