Organization Casa Argentina of Houston

Category Organizations

Description CAH is a non-profit organization with the object of preserving and promoting the Argentine and Latin American culture in its area of influence, mostly the city of Houston and surroundings.

Events and
Traditions
CAH organizes artistic shows and recitals, presentation of argentine movies, as well as theatrical plays, and also social gatherings, of which the most well known are the annual "asado" (argentine-style barbecue), attended by over 300 people each year and the dinner and dance commemorating the Independence day of Argentina, (9th of July).

Other events that are frequently organized are sport activities, such as tennis tournaments; and "book clubs" in which books of Latin American authors are discussed.

CAH publishes a bimonthly publication of “Pampero” which includes news about our community as well as about Argentina, articles of general interest, and collaborations from our readers.

Additional
Information
One of CAH's significant contributions is to be of assistance to patients who travel to Houston for the purpose of medical treatment, and to their families. CAH is in touch with the main hospitals of the Texas Medical Center in an effort to provide support, information and guidance to Argentineans as well as people from other Latin American countries that are here for health reasons. To this effect, we publish a Guide to Houston in Spanish with useful information for the international patient that is distributed by the major hospitals.
