Description	African Overseas Union, Inc. is established to provide charitable assistance to indigent populations in the United States of America and in Africa, and to promote intercultural understanding through educational programs and through recognition of the contributions of individuals to society's general welfare.
Events and Traditions	African Overseas Union, Inc. has organized and presented a dramatization of an African Wedding as part of the Houston International Festival's salute to the region of West Africa. African Overseas Union, Inc. has established an outreach program which sends performers to local schools to give positive presentations about African heritage and culture. These programs promote in students a greater understanding of the history and cultures from which many of their classmates have come.
Classes and Workshops	IAOU has held day workshops and symposiums which culminated in award ceremonies honoring individuals who have contributed to the advancement of interracial understanding and co-existence of diverse cultures.
